Already significantly better than the movie, though still slightly flawed.

Solid opening episode and very good pacing with that.
Buffy is super fun and relatable from the start. The rest of the gang is instantly fun.
What a strong start.
4/5

Really great way to start the show. Like any pilot some parts are a bit awkward but you can already see the strength of the cast. Sarah Michelle Gellar is incredibly charismatic and I'm already swooning over David Boreanaz. I had forgotten that Angel appeared this early in the series.

Quite a bit of early edition weirdness, Xander has a skateboard? Jesse never gets mentioned again? But as a pilot it's possibly one of the best in terms of setting up the shows tone, plot, characters, themes etc.
Looking forward to getting back into my favourite show, it is a shame that season 1 doesn't have this quality overall though.

First time going through this series at all, it's an interesting deviation from the film. Will be curious to see where things go from here.

Good start to the series with great character introductions... but also got a few classic pilot problems with the presence of elements that are going to fade away quickly like the slayer’s ability to sense vampires. Or maybe it just happens offscreen. It also introduces my favourite theme of the series - Buffy’s determination/wish for a normal life vs burden of being a slayer. That dilemma will give us several heartbreaking scenes from Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Interesting start to the series. Like the characters so far, Willow is actually my favorite so far(sorry Buffy). Was surprised to see Angel so early on. Thought he came in later in the seasons.
